If you’ve ever visited the South Padre Island Adventure Park Petting Barn, chances are you’ve already met one of our biggest celebrities—Tex, our lovable Texas Longhorn!
Born right here at Island Adventure Park in 2012, Tex has spent his entire life welcoming guests from around the world. While his impressive horns may stop you in your tracks, it’s his gentle personality that wins everyone over. Around here, we proudly call him our friendly giant.
Tex’s best friend is Dallas, our pony. Despite their size difference, the two are often found side by side, proving that true friendship doesn’t depend on size.
When it comes to snacks, Tex follows one simple rule—he’s on a ‘see food’ diet. If he sees food… he eats it! Keep a cup of petting barn feed nearby, and you’ll quickly have his full attention.
One of Tex’s favorite tricks is using his tongue to point at his mouth, politely reminding guests exactly where those tasty pellets belong. It’s a crowd favorite that always earns smiles, laughter, and plenty of photos.
